1st Blog Anniversary

1st Blog Anniversary

Today is my 1st Blog Anniversary, and what a year it has been 🙂

I started my blog last year, because I enjoyed reading blogs. It was at a stage in my life where I thought this was something I would like to do.  I had no idea about blogging really, and reading blogs from your favourite and new bloggers, is totally different to when you actually start blogging.

So, a year ago today, after telling my husband I wanted to start writing a blog, he set me up and off I went.  I started blogging for me and never really thought about people following my blog, or reading my blog, but they do.

The blogging community, can seem quite daunting at first. But I have not met a blogger who is not supportive or helpful. Everyone seems to care about each other. At times of crisis they are one of the most supportive people you could have around.

I have also, made some great new friends through my blogging both other bloggers and readers. The support has been amazing and I feel honoured to call them my friends.

I started my blog about being a ‘StressedMum’ to a pre-teen. At the time my Daughter was 11 and we were just starting a new phase of her getting ready to leave her Primary School and head into Secondary School.  I have also written a few posts that even now get mentioned

A few of my posts

Being a Stepmum – this is where I spoke about being a Step Mum to my two boys

Being a Stepmum – The older years – this is a recent post where I updated on the boys now they are older and how our relationship is now.

Dear Daughter – My Daughter was having a bit of a rough time, and I wrote this for her

A Letter to my Beautiful Daughter – I wrote this on ME Awareness Day to my Daughter who suffers with ME

There are a lot of other posts that I could highlight. But these are the main ones that seem to have people messaging me.

Why my blog has changed

My life has changed totally, since I began my blog. For that reason I have changed it slightly. My Daughter has been diagnosed with ME/CFS and if trying to cope with the chronic illness was not enough. The side that I don’t talk about is a lot harder, everything is a battle and a fight.  I want to make people aware of this awful illness and promote it as and when I can.  Gone (for now) are our little daily battles, the cheekiness and arguments that come with pre-teens. But I know in time we will get that back.

We also lost one of our dogs, but now have a totally mad 4 month old puppy and I have started when I can, baking with the dogs.

I am so glad I decided to take the plunge and start writing my own blog, the opportunities I have had have been amazing, I managed to actually attend my first blogging event last week, and had a great time and met some other bloggers face to face. This has led me to work with some amazing companies and had the opportunity to review products I have loved.  I have new friends and a great following.

Here is to another year of blogging and a HUGE thank you to you all for making this possible, for reading my blog and following my journey and supporting me.  You all mean a lot and I appreciate every single comment and message you send me.

My goodness, how hard it must have been for you to have your little girl diagnosed with ME. I once had a boss who had suffered from ME very seriously for a number of years (as an adult) and through the love of her own mother she was able to overcome it and go back to work, eventually becoming chief executive of one of the largest charities in the UK. So, I hope this offers some hope that whatever you are doing as a mother to love and support her through it, you’re doing the right thing. Period.
