Goodbye April – Hello May

Another month has gone by. It only seems like yesterday that we said hello to April, where has this month gone.  I am also going to add my weekly post to this post as well.

April was a good and a bad month for us. We had to make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to one of our dogs. He was ill and not responding to medication. The vet said he could have had an operation but there was a strong chance he would not come through it. He was very old and it would not have been fair on him.  He was not happy.  Unfortuately, Max suffered, he missed him and he could not understand where his mate had gone. They loved each other.

We decided as a family, as we had lost a dog through a broken heart before. That we would get a puppy, and we got a little bundle of fluff who my Daughter called Bear.  He is 10 weeks old today, and certainly made himself at home. And Max loves him, and is so good with him. Even when Bear is climbing over him or chewing him. But there is nothing that melts your heart more when Bear gives Max a kiss.

Having a puppy is such hard work though. We got Max when he was 10 months old as he was a rescue. My arms are full of scars, my laces on my pumps are tatty. He has found the knack of getting my slippers off my feet and running off, there is never a dull moment when he is awake.

My cat is not keen on Bear, she is an old lady of 20, she either hides from him, or she sits and teases him knowing he can not get her, but it wont be long until he does, he dances around yapping at her she has growled at him.

My Daughter adores him, and is helping her as she will sit out in the garden with them and play, although she has to be careful what she does with Max as she is not strong enough.

It was my birthday in April and I had a lovely day and got treated to a meal out with my parents on my birthday and then celebrated with friends the weekend after. Now on the countdown to a huge milestone next year, that I am not looking forward too.

My Daughter, is making slow progress with her illness, we have the diagnosis now that it is CFS/ME, she is back in school for a couple of hours a day, although not managing a full week yet, her walking is very slow and she gets in a lot of pain or wiped out if she walks too much, but she is determined and tries so hard, she is happy to be back at school and they are really helping her and she has her best friend as her buddy, who helps her to lessons and getting around, and gets her help if needed.  Next step is to try to increase the hours she is at school.

May is going to be a very busy month, and we have loads of things planned, with the studio and with our Daughter.  Hopefully we will now see the nicer warmer weather, and the snow and hail of last week has now gone.

Watch out for a new video hopefully later today, as I think it might be quite funny as am going to do a cooking with Max and Bear, I have chosen the easiest recipe I could find as just know Bear will be hanging off my hand, chewing my arm or attacking my shoes while doing it, but thats what having pets is all about, having a bit of fun.  He is having a sleep at the moment so will be full of it.

So how has your April been, hopefully you had a good month x

So sorry to hear about your family pet. It’s a shame they don’t live as long as humans do, isn’t it. Yay about the puppy though! 🙂

Thank you, it was a heartbreaking decision to make but one that needed to be done, and then even more heartbreaking for Max as he just did not understand. Luckily getting the puppy has cheered him up and they are going to have great fun together once Bear is a little bigger x

Oh I am so sorry for your loss at least you know he is not suffering and is looking down on you in peace. Although not a replacement for your old dog , I am sure the puppy will bring new happiness to your family.

I like to think that he is playing with our old dog who we lost a few years ago playing together again. It was heartbreaking but what we had to do. The pup is not a replacement but an addition and him and my dog both adore each other all ready.

Thank you Bear is such a cute little thing, although he is very chewy at the moment and has taken a real shine to my shoes and slippers, ankles, feet, etc. He is so cheeky and him and Max are firm friends already although poor Max doesn’t get the peace he always wants with Bear jumping all over him x

Thank you, we had tried to fight it for so long, but we couldn’t do anymore :(, he was a great age for his breed and had a great life. Bear is certainly a character and I think he is going to be cheeky like Max so has fitted in very well and Max loves him x

I am sorry for your loss, pets really are so much part of the family and both the house and your heart must have a huge great space in them at the moment.

Thank you, it is never easy losing a pet as they are a huge part of the family, I still miss my old dog who I lost 4 years ago. We tried everything to help him and it was heartbreaking knowing we had to make the right decision for him. Our other dog missed him and pined he just did not understand where his friend had gone 🙁

Thank you, it was heartbreaking losing him, he had been part of our lives for over 10 years, and we had tried so hard to make him better. Max was heartbroken and really suffered losing him, so we got the puppy a bit sooner than we planned on but the best thing we could do they adore each other and always together x

So sorry for your loss. You sound like you have your hands full with Bear though, having a puppy is so tiring! Good luck to your daughter too, she sounds like she’s determined and positive and that’s the best attitude to have.

Thank you it was a heartbreaking decision. Bear is certainly a little character and him and Max play for ages which tires him out. My Daughter is trying really hard but it is difficult finding the balance of trying a bit more and doing too much and wiping her out x

His name was Bertie a real gentle giant apart from when he stood on your foot, we had to get another dog quicker for Max he was pining and it was heartbreaking, Bear is such a little whirlwind and him and Max get on great and they play great together, my poor cat hates him though and she will run away from him and he sits there barking at her. I had a lovely birthday thank youx
