How many hats?

Am just sitting down after a very busy day, and was thinking how many jobs us mums do on a daily/weekly basis, plus all the extra little things we do.

Off the top of my head here are a few I do without thinking about

I prepare breakfast, lunch and dinners every day, plus make bread, cakes, biscuits etc as extras to the daily food preparation

Clean the house, there is always hoovering, mopping, dusting, kitchen to clean, bathroom to clean

Have grouped, the food shopping, washing, ironing, changing beds etc into this category

Paying bills, budgeting etc

Taxi Driver

There are the school runs, driving the kids to their friends, parties or any other social event they need taking too

Running their diaries, for sleepover, parties, school assemblies, school trips, days out

If you have more than two children, you are always having to referee arguments and fights

It is always Mum they want when they are ill, and we try to do our best to make them better

When they come home from school, and have had an argument with their friend, and it is the end of the world

We do all this and more, daily without even thinking about it.  Plus today I have also been a labourer, moving gravel from the front to the back garden and photographers assistant, as my husband was trying different lighting.

It is no wonder us mums, are stressed and tired at the end of the day

Do not ever let anyone make you feel bad for just being a mum, just remember how many hats you where in a day.

We really are “Mum’s of all trades”. You missed waitress, seamstress, negotiator, chief buyer, personal shopper….LOL. Still THE best job ever.

I keep telling my husband he couldn’t afford to pay someone to do my jobs each time he asks if I’d rather not have a full time 9-5 job. Erm Nope!

It certainly is, Dads do a good job too but would not be able to run things and remember things like us mums x

  7. 17th November 2015 / 5:38 pm

I agree with all you have said especially the peace maker bit. I am forever separating my two.

It is amazing all the things you have to become in a life time, no matter what you really should be doing. x

I totally hear where you’re coming from, as I’m exactly the same! Cook, teacher, peace negotiator when they’re arguing, cleaner, to name just a few.
If you were to pay us for all the different jobs we did we’d be very rich indeed! 🙂

It is the best job in the world, and I wouldn’t change it one bit x

  15. 18th November 2015 / 2:18 pm

I once read an interesting article about how much it would actually cost to pay someone to do all the jobs that a mum does on a day to day basis and it was loads! Not an easy job..

    • admin
      18th November 2015 / 4:21 pm

I dread to think how much it would cost x

  16. 18th November 2015 / 2:41 pm

You’ve really bought it home to me just how much we have to juggle. It’s a bit of a thankless task isn’t it, as everyone just expects us to smooth everything over

    • admin
      18th November 2015 / 4:21 pm

I know it is quite amazing when you sit and think about what you actually do, and if you didn’t do it the whole house can’t cope

  17. 18th November 2015 / 8:04 pm

It’s amazing when you think about it how much you do as an adult/parent – it’s no wonder our days go so fast!

    • admin
      19th November 2015 / 10:08 am

Sorry, but it was the best way to title the post. We do so many different roles

Yep, mums definitely do a lot of different jobs. I’ll never understand why some employers don’t see women with children as a massive asset, because they blooming are!

    • admin
      27th July 2016 / 11:41 am

They are a huge asset, and it is a shame some employers take it for granted x

  23. 27th July 2016 / 7:31 am

Women in general wear a lot of hats but we sure take for granted all that mum’s do especially when we’re younger!

    • admin
      27th July 2016 / 11:40 am

      Totally agree x

A talented bunch of people, us mums! You’ve hit the nail on the head (or should that be hat?)

    • admin
      27th July 2016 / 1:23 pm

We are very talented 🙂 x

  25. 27th July 2016 / 2:39 pm

It’s so true! I always think I wear a lot of hats as a full-time blogger too – cook, writer, photographer, coder, secretary… there’s so much involved!

    • admin
      27th July 2016 / 3:06 pm

Oh yes all these as well, I am sure if we all sat down and made a list together we would be shocked at just how much we all do in a day x

  26. 27th July 2016 / 7:13 pm

Never underestimate a parent, it’s the worst thing you can do ha. Multitasking at it’s finest!

    • admin
      27th July 2016 / 9:31 pm

      Haha very true x

  27. 27th July 2016 / 9:01 pm

So try, even being a blogger you wear hats of writer, proof reader, scheduler, designer etc x

    • admin
      27th July 2016 / 9:30 pm

I know, it is amazing just how many we wear everyday I dread to think how long the list would be if we sat down and listed everything

  28. 27th July 2016 / 8:58 pm

Mums are incredible and completely under-appreciated! Well done, you’re doing a fab job 🙂

    • admin
      27th July 2016 / 9:30 pm

      Thank you 🙂 x

  29. 28th July 2016 / 12:48 am

We need to juggle so much on a daily basis as mothers, it’s hard work to keep up with everything.

    • admin
      28th July 2016 / 10:20 am

It is hard work, but I bet none of us would change it x

  30. 28th July 2016 / 2:57 am

Ahh, these jobs can definitely be overwhelming at times. It’s crazy how many skills you acquire through parenting.

    • admin
      28th July 2016 / 10:20 am

They certainly can, I used parenting as I am a parent but applies to everyone really we never realise just how many hats we juggle each day x

  31. Jenna Von
    28th July 2016 / 1:09 pm

This is totally right! I’m not even a mum but I have been a support worker and even said this about my own job. People assume mums just do nothing and don’t appreciate they actually do everything! As you said, never feel belittled because all parents have a very hard job x

    • admin
      28th July 2016 / 1:30 pm

Thank you, for everything we have to do, the rewards outweigh it all though x

  32. 28th July 2016 / 7:47 pm

This list is very true! Us parents are great with what we do, a lot of people think parents don’t do much but there is so much to do whilst you’re a parent

    • admin
      29th July 2016 / 9:48 am

I think people think it is just an excuse to say you are a parent, but even as a parent you really don’t realise just how much you do each day, on top of normal things x

  33. Jessica McDonnell
    28th July 2016 / 7:41 pm

This is a really interesting post. Sometimes we take for granted the role of our parents – they do so much.

    • admin
      29th July 2016 / 9:49 am

We do take parents for granted, but that shows just how great your parents are x

  34. 29th July 2016 / 1:37 am

Theres definitely plenty of roles within the mam job description! Lots of hard work xxx

    • admin
      29th July 2016 / 9:43 am

It is hard work but also very rewarding x

  35. Hannah

It’s insane how much stuff mums do – my mum never stops!
